Philanthropies

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Both nationally and locally, Sigma Delta Tau supports three philanthropies:

Jewish Women International, Prevent Child Abuse America, and the Sigma Delta Tau Foundation.

Throughout the year we host a variety of fundraising activities. From bake sales to nail polish sales to our annual dance competition, we are constantly working to better our community.

Jewish Women International

(JWI)

Jewish Women International was founded in 1887 and is the leading Jewish organization empowering women and girls. Our local chapter of JWI is in Chicago.

Empowerment is created through: economic literacy; community training; healthy relationship education; and the proliferation of women’s leadership.

JWI is all about ending violence for women, taking action, building a future for women and children at risk, and empowering women and children.

Each year JWI partners with OPI and Sigma Delta Tau to create a shade of nail polish called Girls Achieving Grapeness. This makes Sigma Delta Tau the only panhellenic sorority to have their own nail polish color.

Sigma Delta Tau is one of the top fundraisers for JWI

Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA)

Prevent Child Abuse America was founded in Chicago in 1972 for the development of children nationwide. The local chapter of PCAA is located in Springfield. All of the money that Sigma Delta Tau at Bradley raises for PCAA goes to this chapter - so the money we raise benefits our community right here in Illinois! Nationally, we donate over $100,000 each year!

PCAA ensures that every child has an equal opportunity for growth and development. Their focus is impacting policy, raising awareness, and being an advocate for those who do not have a voice.

Prevent Child Abuse America's mission is to "prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children" and includes all forms of abuse and neglect, whether physical, sexual, educational, emotional, or peer-peer abuse.

The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation

(ΣΔΤ)

The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation was founded in 1963 as its own not-for-profit organization. The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation is dedicated to empowering SDT sisters to grow both professionally and personally through funding of Sigma Delta Tau educational programs and scholarship opportunities.

These scholarships help both undergraduate and graduate students with the high cost of college, thus relieving some of the financial burden of college.
